§ 13.20.020. City may contract to supply electricity

  • The governing body of the city may contract with persons, firms and corporations for the supplying of the electricity in large quantities. The governing body may also contract for auxiliary or standby service on the following basis: Any customer whose premises is regularly supplied with energy from a privately owned source or other source may take service hereunder for auxiliary or standby purposes. The customer pays a yearly minimum bill based on twenty dollars ($20.00) per year per kilowatt of contract capacity. If in any month the customer's maximum fifteen (15) minute measured kilowatt demand exceeds the contract demand, such measured demand shall become the contract demand for the remaining months of the contract year and shall continue in the next contract year until a twelve (12) month period, beginning with the current billing month, will have elapsed or until exceeded by a higher demand, which will in turn become the basis for determining the minimum bill for a like twelve (12) month period. Payment of the yearly minimum bill will be prorated on a monthly basis and adjusted yearly.
