§ 13.04.300. Excavation and backfill

  • All streets must be opened in a manner which will occasion the least inconvenience to the general public and admit the uninterrupted passage of water along the gutter. No excavation on any public street or alley or on any public ground shall be allowed to remain open at night unless protected by red lights and proper barricade and every precaution shall be taken to insure public safety. All streets and alleys excavated must be restored to as good condition as the same were previous to the excavation, and all dirt, stone or other rubbish must be removed immediately upon completion of the work. Should any excavation upon any street or alley or public ground be left open or unfinished for more than twenty-four (24) hours, or should the work be improperly done or rubbish not removed, the plumbing inspector of the city shall have the right and is authorized to finish or correct the work and the expense incurred shall be charged to the plumber, the expense to be paid before the plumber shall be allowed another permit.
