§ 13.20.030. Application for electric service—Deposit and fees

  • A. Persons desiring electricity to be supplied to them or the premises which they are occupying, from the municipal power plant of the city, shall pay a deposit to the city clerk to guarantee the prompt payment of all electric accounts accumulated in connection with electric service. The amount of the deposit shall be two hundred dollars ($200.00).

    B. If the premises use a considerable amount of electricity, the city clerk is authorized to require a deposit in excess of two hundred dollars ($200.00).

    C. The city clerk may waive any deposit for any person who can furnish a written letter of credit from any other Kansas municipality, showing a satisfactory record of payment of municipal utility bills.

    D. There shall be an additional charge of fifty dollars ($50.00) per connection made after normal working hours.

    E. Any customer moving within the city service area shall be charged a move connection fee of ten dollars ($10.00) for each move.

    F. The city clerk shall return the deposit to the customer at such time service is discontinued, except the city clerk may first deduct the amount of any accrued bills or bills due on discontinuance of service. The city clerk shall pay interest to the customer making the deposit as provided by KSA 12-822.
