§ 10.12.040. Truck parking limitations

  • A. Except as provided in subsection D of this section, it is unlawful for any person, firm, corporation or organization of any kind to park or leave unattended any truck, semi-tractor or semitrailer on any street or highway in the city for a period longer than two hours.

    B. It is unlawful for any person, firm, corporation or association of any kind to park or leave unattended any truck, semitractor or semitrailer on Main Street between Blaine Street and Sixth Street at any time.

    C. For purposes of this chapter, the word "truck" shall mean any vehicle designed for the transportation of property and:

    1. Whose body weight or combined body weight and load weight exceeds a gross weight of six tons; or

    2. Has a wheel base over one hundred thirty-five (135) inches; or

    3. Has more than six wheels.

    D. Exceptions. Subsection A of this section shall not apply to any of the following circumstances:

    1. The parking of emergency vehicles for the purpose of attending an emergency situation; or

    2. The parking of a truck for the purpose of loading or unloading merchandise, furniture or any other goods, for so long as reasonably necessary to complete the same; or

    3. The parking of a truck for the purpose of loading and unloading construction material at a construction or building location, for so long as reasonably necessary to complete the same; or

    4. The parking of a truck which is incapacitated or unable to move, for so long as reasonably necessary to remove the same, not to exceed twenty-four (24) hours; or

    5. The parking of a truck in a designated truck parking zone as provided in Section 10.12.060; or

    6. The parking of trucks owned or operated by the city, public utilities and contractors of the city while engaged in the repair, maintenance or construction of streets, street improvements, utility service or conducting refuse collection.
